D4 sessions
The D4 techniques can be applied in interviews, small meetings
and in workshops. For convenience and from experience of
applying the methods eight specialised workshops have been
devised, known as "sessions". Each one specifies the purpose
of the workshop, its format, which people should attend
and why and the time required to carry it out. Here is a
summary list of the eight sessions:
reconnaissance
Defines what 'done' is going to be in tangible, personal, binary, consensual terms.
mapping
Works out the tipping points to tell the story of how the outcome happens. Makes the plan.
pay-back
Finds the extended benefits, not just the salami-slicing headcount savings.
valuation
Estimates the values and costs in realistic terms removing risk and double-counting.
breakthrough
Takes those who know what will stop the change from why-we-can't to how-we-did.
re-routing
Uses the power of finance and smart thinking to get back on track to the target.
enablement
Gives line management a simple process based on what 'done' is to make change happen.
recognition
Walking the floor to be shown the outcome and to recognise the achievement.
